The Xiaomi Youban UPS-01 is a compact, intelligent and genuinely effective portable fruit and vegetable purifier that eliminates up to 99.99% of bacteria and reduces pesticide residues by more than 90% using high-energy ion purification technology — with no chemicals, no filters, no consumables and nothing added to the water beyond the purifying ions generated by the device itself. The purification technology at the heart of the UPS-01 is based on high-energy ion generation, which splits water molecules into hydroxide ions (OH⁻) and hydrogen ions (H⁺) through a titanium electrode that is safe, stable and produces no harmful byproducts. The OH⁻ ions attack and break down the molecular structure of pesticide residues on the surface of fruits and vegetables, while simultaneously destroying the cell walls of bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms. A portion of the OH⁻ ions reacts with chlorine naturally present in tap water to form hypochlorous acid (HClO), which kills bacteria through oxidative degradation before releasing itself harmlessly as oxygen — leaving no chemical trace in the water or on the food surface. The H⁺ ions combine with the harmful substances removed from the food to form harmless recombined compounds that disperse safely into the wash water. The entire process requires only clean tap water — no additives, no detergents, no filter replacements and no ongoing consumable costs of any kind.

The IPX7 waterproof rating means the UPS-01 is built to be fully immersed in water during every use — functioning safely and effectively when placed directly into 3 to 8 litres of water alongside your produce, without any risk of water ingress or damage to the internal electronics. The 4400mAh lithium-ion battery provides more than 35 full purification cycles on a single charge, with each cycle lasting approximately 5 minutes — giving you over two and a half hours of total purification time per charge, easily covering a full week of daily kitchen use before needing to be recharged. The included wireless charging base recharges the UPS-01 when not in use and doubles as a wireless charger for compatible smartphones, adding a practical secondary function to what is already one of the most useful compact kitchen accessories available.
